Recent Happenings

The DCC wiring project continues on with more buss wire sets being installed every work night. Tom Graham put in the fuse panel so that when we have enough drops connected we can start making our tracks live again. The last Saturday in September and the first Saturday in October were spent dismantling Jerry Merker's On3 model railroad empire. The layout room was in a basement so the heat and humidity were ever present reminders that the cool fall weather had not yet arrived. It was hard, dirty work but the money we earned will be put to good use by our club and it was well worth it!! Thanks to all who were involved; Paul Koehler, Don Bergman, Larry Stark, Mike O'brian, Tim Johnson, Scott Sackett, Alex Novati, Al Wallace, Dominick "The New Guy", Greg Francis, Mike Allee and Mark Grunow.

DCC wiring progresses at the GMRRC.

The rewiring of our layout for DCC operation has been progressing with work being done 3 out of 4 of our weekly meeting sessions each month since we began the project. So far twisted buss wire sets have been installed underneath LAUPT, Taylor yard, Glendale station and a portion of our interurban line. Drops have been run at LAUPT, making it the first portion of the layout that could be operated with DCC. As work progresses there will be more updates. Other tasks being accomplished during the rewiring process include the refurbishment of many buildings by club members, clean up of the scenery and repairs to areas of the layout that have needed attention for some time.
